Scuba SSI Certification
Many of my friends that I have sailed with over the years were scuba divers also.  While they got to see the more exotic aspects of the reefs and fish life, I was stuck snorkeling at the surface.  In 2007 I decided to change that prior to my spending a month sailing in the South Pacific.  I passed the  Open Water course just in time for my trip and was able to dive in both Vanuatu and Australia.  Those dives made the whole venture worth while.

In January 2008 I completed my SCUBA Nitrox certification which allows me to breath air mixes with higher percentages of oxygen.  I get over to Catalina Island whenever I can fit it in.

In March of 2008 I managed to fit in three days of diving off Maui and Lanai while on a two week vacation with my wife on Maui.  Each day was a two tank dive and included dives at Turtle Reef just offshore from Lahaina, Molokini, and the Cathedrals off of Lanai.

In October and November of 2007 I took a month off from work and sailed from Vanuatu to New Caledona to Australia.  While the weather didn't allow me to dive in New Caledonia while we were there, I did get in one day of 2 tank diving in Vanuatu and 2 days of 2 tank diving while in Australia.
